For Awhile My Hands Were Gone
"For Awhile My Hands Were Gone" is an original linocut print handmade by me, Una Scott. I drew the image, carved it onto 4 linoleum blocks and printed each block by hand on my etching press. This handmade print will come signed and numbered, and is number 1 in the edition of 100. Printed on 100% acid-free cotton rag paper.
I had a weird strep infection reaction this spring that completely immobilized and swelled up both hands for a couple months. It was so bad, I didn't know if I'd be able to make art anymore. Finally the doctors figured out what I had, and told me that I'd recover completely in a few months. I knew I had to make a piece of art about the experience. Here it is, an adorable lamb runs off with both my hands, probably inwardly giggling! The menacing sky and skewed landscape counteract the lamb's sweetness.
